Tony Lucas

INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Tony Lucas is the Associate Vice President of Business & Administrative Services at Sacramento State, Sacramento CA. In this role he is responsible for Division Budget Planning & Resource Management, University Transportation and Parking Services (13K Parking Spaces & 5 line bus system), University Print & Mail Services, Campus Space Management, and Campus Sustainability & Energy Management. Tony recently led Sacramento State’s Autonomous Shuttle pilot, as well as the development of an award winning (sustainability) 1750 space Parking Structure, Welcome Center and Mobility Hub project.


Prior to arriving at Sacramento State, Tony was the Deputy Executive Learning Officer and Chief Information Officer for the Department of Navy’s Office of Executive Learning from May 2002 to May 2007 – Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey CA. While serving this role, he planned and implemented a continuum of courses designed to develop the business acumen of the Navy’s most senior Admirals and Senior Executive Service civilians. Tony developed and managed the Information and Administrative organizations as well as coordinating the Academic program for the Department of the Navy’s Executive Learning Program.


Tony served as Director in several positions at CSU Monterey Bay, Monterey CA from May 1994 to May 2002. While serving as CSU Monterey Bay’s first IT Manager, he planned, implemented and managed CSU Monterey Bay’s initial network and information systems environments enabling the university to realize it’s distinction as the CSU’s Technological Flagship. Tony was also responsible for planning and implementing the California State University’s first fully functional, cross-divisional “One-Stop-Shop” service organization. This organization merged service points from all service departments within the Administrative Division and the Student Affairs Division forming a single customer service point for Students, Faculty and staff.


Tony served in the USAF (Active Duty and Reserve) from December 1979 until his retirement from the USAF Reserves in September 2007. As an Air Force Reserve Intelligence Officer, Major Lucas designed and implemented an information system integrating various mission planning systems employed at the HQ USCINCPAC Cruise Missile Support Activity. This system gave the mission planners, intelligence analysts and target analysts a system to obtain timely, up-to-date critical information on the status of missions and plans.


Tony is a “Military Brat” and grew up on various Air Force bases located in Japan, Okinawa, the Azores Islands and the continental United States. Tony holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from San Jose State University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Policy from Sacramento State.
